Boy George Sentenced 15 Months - Sky News Video

Boy George was sentenced today for 15 months for wrongfully imprisoning a Norwegian male escort, Audun Carlsen, 29, in April 2007.   Boy George denied the charges and claimed that the escort had stolen photos from his laptop. He admitted handcuffing him to a wall in order to trace the missing property.  The singer and DJ, whose real name is George O’Dowd aged 47, was found guilty of handcuffing the man to his bed and hitting him with a metal chain when he tried to leave his flat. Judge David Radford said he was guilty of “gratuitous violence … whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen’s physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him.

“He was deprived of his liberty and human dignity without warning or proper explanation to him of its purpose, length or purported justification.”
