“Footprints in the Sand” by Leona Lewis is an adaptation of the Christian poem “Footprints”. It was released on 10th March 2008 and is the Official song of charity Sport Relief 2008.  Simon Cowell came up with the idea to base a song around the poem, and Lewis agreed that it could be “really quite interesting”. Cowell has a songwriting credit for coming up with the idea. Lewis describes the song as “very moving, with a very emotional lyric”. The song is about “standing by someone and being there for people who need your help.”
