The Five Tibetan Rites - The Right Way - Ellen Wood Video

In our previous video articles, we highlighted that ‘a lot of the recent editions have likened the Tibetan rites to the Yoga system and the chakras, but this is a misrepresentation of the original writings’ and as you may have seen from the Sarah Kline video she mentions the system being derived from a retired American Colonel!  She also emphasies the chakras, which are not mentioned in the Peter Kelder original text.  The other major difference is the way in which the exercises are performed, Rites two & three are not performed correctly at all.

In contrast, Ellen Wood’s video is probably the closest representation to how the Tibetan Rites should be performed.  So, beware of getting sucked into the Yoga protagonists trying to claim ownership of these exercises with modified yoga postures.  Keep to the true form of the exercises to get the most benefits.  Peter Kelders text talks about Vortexes (Vortices) not Chakras.  Also, the exercises are meant to have natural periods of rest between each repetition so you don’t overstrain yourself.  Finally, there’s no need to assume a standing posture between each of the rites, you are advised to rest naturally and get your breathing back to normal before proceeding with the next exercise.

Ellen Wood is 73, and has her own website for those interested.

Postscript 21st February 2010: The feedback comments recieved from this earlier post has made me want to give more recognition to the work of Ellen Wood.  She has her own website as mentioned before, and you can reach it here:

On her website you can see more pictures of how well she looks and also details of the keynote talks that she has given.  Ellen has also written a book entitled the Secret Method of Growing Younger and you can find details of this on her website too.  We wish her success in delivering her message to a wider audience.

Nice job Ellen. Not as easy as it looks but simple enough that I can do these anywhere. Thanks for the “slowly” input. Makes it more like a body meditation then exercises I have to rush through.

Each position opens the body. How inspiring it is to watch the movements and to try them. As a senior, I love the feeling of freedom as I feel my body respond. Thank you for sharing the secrets of staying young and healthy. D

I have read about the 5 Tibetans but never felt I could follow written directions and feel I was doing them correctly. This video makes it possible! Ellen Wood’s video demonstration is great! In it she shows me how they should be done and also inspires me to do them!

I just finished watching this wonderful video and I could see how the human body could truly benefit from such an experience. It addresses the entire body in simple to follow movements and in a short period of time. It is also great that this is something one can do in their own home which for many with a busy schedule is much easier. I myself did the Five Tibetans some years ago and then again in yoga class. I do find the slowing of the technique is much more useful to the body and the mind. Barbara A. Tracy, Naturopath, Iridologist and Polarity Therapist.
